Ajjiit Inuit Film Night

Ajjiit Nunavut Media Association is pleased to announce the Ajjiit   Inuit Film Night, sponsored by Qikitani Inuit Association, Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, the Alianait Festival and Nunavut Film Development Corporation

Please join us Monday, June 27th to see some brand new short films by young Nunavummiut, as well as an excellent feature film that has been pulled out of the archives, featuring many Inuit actors from Iqaluit and Cape Dorset. Maybe you'll recognize yourself in it, or your aunt or cousin! Nanook taxi is a film directed by Edward Folger in the 1970's, and in my opinion it is still relevant and powerful today. It is well written, well acted and I've heard many times that it is a very true and honest portrait of life in Iqaluit at that time period. It is one of my favourite films, so I hope you'll join us and reminisce, as well as celebrate some brand new (and breath-taking/humourous/surprising/beautiful/award-winning), short films from our new and talented emerging filmmakers of Nunavut.

The event is FREE and open to everyone above the age of 13.

See you at the ASTRO at 5:30 for refreshments, and the films start at 6:00 sharp!
