Funding Programs

Story Telling Fund

In response to COVID-19, The Story Telling Fund is a creation fund that provides production companies and individual filmmakers the flexibility of a greater diversification of activities not currently served by NFDC’s funding programs.

Entry-Level Film Experience Program

The Entry-Level Experience Fund provides opportunities for exploring the potential for employment in the film, television and digital media industry. Experiences can take various forms, such as specifically designed film camps, coordinated lecture series, film festivals, etc.


Industry Development and Training

The Industry Development and Training Fund provides opportunities for those in the film, television and digital media production industry to obtain training at a professional level. It is open to industry associations, production companies, or individuals seeking to improve the professional development and training of their members, employees, or in the case of an individual, themselves.


Short Film Fund

The Short Film Fund provides an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to participate in a mentored program that will:

  • provide up to $25,000, including the cost of mentoring services
  • provide mentoring from an established industry professional by offering advice, expertise, and support

Creative Content Development

The Creative Content Development Fund provides for the development of creative content for film, television, and digital media. A project may apply for up to three grants of $7,500 each.


Nunavut Spend Incentive

The Nunavut Spend Incentive Program is an initiative that awards production companies a rebate on the total eligible costs for production goods and services purchased and consumed in Nunavut. Only those eligible productions which spend more than $25,000 on goods and services consumed in Nunavut are eligible to apply for a rebate.


Market Endowment Program

The Market Endowment Program is an initiative that awards an individual producer financial assistance up to $5,000 to cover their costs to attend international markets, co-production conferences or forums. Assistance under this program is also available to producers or directors whose project has been nominated for an award or selected for screening at a major festival.


Inuktut Versioning Fund for Existing Programs

The Inuktut Versioning Fund for Existing Programs/Inuktut Language Incentive Program provides support for the production of new programs or versioning of existing programming of relevance to Nunavut into Inuktut. The purpose of this program is to increase the amount of relevant film, television and digital media that is available to the residents of Nunavut in Inuktut through broadcast, consumer sales, educational institutions or online.
